as a 40 something year old, i did not grow up with computers. as a mother of 2 teenage girls and a healthcare worker, i was forced to learn about computers! my daughters started me out with myspace ( actually i just wanted to spy on them)! i enjoyed the different music and background choices more than anything. but, it was interesting looking at other peoples pics-well sort of ( but, i got tired of all the drama & silliness).
i then enjoyed surfing, e-mailing friends ( just 1 or 2), and e-bay shopping. downloading music was the best - just my favorite old tunes to embarrass my girls. wow, i loved the computer!
then along came computers at work! at first it was a fairly simple task, but that was many years ago. now, everything i do is on a computer. all at once it was EMR (electronic medical records) and CR radiology (digital). we no longer have paper charts-no more paper cuts! but trust me we're not saving any trees.
but digit x-ray is the bomb! i can make a image darker, lighter, turn in a different direction , add notes ( like teenage patient was shielded, or a right or left side). i love the touch screen, except for the fingerprints ( i'm just a little OCD ). it's all great until the computers bog down or somethings lost in cyberspace. i still feel so ignorant when i call tech support- they just don't understand why i don't know what they're asking me!
so all in all -computers are great when they work. but it sure makes for a bad day when they don't, especially when ill physicians or teenagers are involved!
and lastly , thank the good Lord above for spell check ! ! !
